So today is the last day of 2011 and it is time to start thinking of resolutions for the New Year.  Well I have my personal resolution, but there are two resolutions that I have that have to do with my Blog.  I would to start Doily Day.  Wednesday would be Doily Day and I would post a new doily creation or pattern every Wednesday.  Also for Christmas I received a Stitch a Day Calendar.   I would like to post everyday the new knitting stitch I learn that day.  So these are my resolution.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Ereader cases

In my last post I shared with you my first attempt at  a case for my new e-reader.  Well I didn't like it very much because it was too bulky and it wasn't holding the e-reader secure enough.  The picture above is my second attempt.  I crocheted this sleeve that fits the e-reader perfect.  I like this one very much but I still wanted to created a case that flipped open like a book.
The above is my third attempt at the e-reader case.  This one I measured everything and made a pattern and sewed it together.  It has thinner cardboard in it so that it was  not as bulky.  When I finished it and tried to put the e-reader in it I realized that a had measured everything correctly but I didn't leave enough fabric for a seam allowance.  So this one was a bust.

The pictures above are the Fourth pattern I created.  I spent almost 3 hours measuring and folding and correcting the pattern until I think i had it accurate.  The pattern on the left is for the fabric for the inside and outside of the case and the pattern on the right is the pattern for the felt padding.
This is the e-reader case I made from the pattern I created.  I used flat quarters quilting fabric.  The lining I chose to use instead of cardboard I used felt.  It adds just enough padding with out creating the bulky effect the cardboard has.  I chose to use velcro for the closure and added the the flower button adorenment.
When the case is open the velcro can be fastened in the back and the e-reader is nice and secure in the elastic bands.  The case fits perfectly around e-reader not too small not too big.  Just Right.

My First Attempt at an Ereader Case

So I got an Ereader for Christmas and it came with a black plain Jane sleeve for it.  I wanted to create something that would give the E-reader the protection it needed but look attractive.  Below is my first attempt of creating a sleeve.  The outside is crocheted and the inside is a sewn in lining.  When I finished it I realized that I used cardboard that was too thick.  I decided to set this one aside and create a new one.

Felt Baubles

I have been looking at my Christmas Tree.  Our theme is blue, silver and white because of the many snowflakes I have created and keep creating.  Those snowflakes are so addicting.  Anyway it did not have enough blue.  So I took some scrap felt, some sequins and beads and created more Christmas Ornaments that would add more blue to our Tree.

Newest Bauble Covers

These are my newest crocheted Bauble covers.  I used size 10 cotton crochet thread and a size 9 steel crochet hook.  The cover above is an adaptation from one of my aunts bauble covers that I tried to get the pattern for and it is one of my favorite.
The Bauble Cover above just uses a repeated pattern of double crochet clusters and an increase of chain stitches to fit the Bauble.
The Cover above is also one of my favorite.  This is another pattern I created myself.   Live. Love. Create.

Christmas stocking

So I do not have a Fireplace to hang my Stockings but The first year my husband and I had our own place I had created us some stockings.  They were crocheted and they were all different.  Well I really didn't like them very much.  So I came up with these stockings.  They are all the same color they just have a different crocheted snowflake and a different crocheted trim.  Each stocking has a beaded wire initial of who that stocking belongs to.   Live. Love. Create.

Coolest bag ever

I finally finished my recycled Capri sun bag. I collected the juice bags cut the bottom open and washed them and set them aside to dry. Then I sewed them together forming panels. I think it came out awesome.

Homemade Barbie Shoes

These barbie shoes are made from tissue paper, glue, wood and clay. I used the tissue paper and glue to paper mâché around the foot of the barbie in the shape of the shoe. Making sure put pam or vasaline on the foot first. Let the shoe completely dry and then it should slide of easily. After that take the clay and form it into a sole in the shape of the bottom of the barbie foot leave it on the foot and add a small piece of rowel for the heel and form some clay around the top by the sole to help secure it. Bake as per clay instructions. When cool glue to paper mâché piece and paint as desired.

These are my home made business cards to advertise my blog and the things I make and sell. I have pieced them together from two different papers and then sewn them to add that crafting flare. Thank you sewwoodsy.blogspot.com for the inspiration.

Halloween decor

Halloween is my favorite holiday with all the spooky and eerie themes and decor. I like to be very scary on all hallows eve. I have made a hand spun spiders web and a giant spiders egg sac. On the door I have put together 5 skulls and after they were hung on the door they are covered in spiders webs and spiders. In my flower pots I have hand painted grave stone boxes that happened to be the perfect size for the flower pots. I have also created a paper and craft foam lantern to hang from the over hang. Happy Halloween get creative.

Homemade Lightening McQueen Birthday Cake

For my sons 2nd birthday we decided on a Disney Cars theme. I decided to make the cake myself because of my sons peanut and tree nut allergies. I made this cake shaped like Lightening McQueen out of Betty Crocker cake mix vanilla and chocolate in order to create a marble effect. It is two layers and cut and pieced together.
